12 meter R yacht?

The meter rule and the universal rule are completely different arent they?

I THINK that they do that in Europe to differentiate between the 'R's and the 'CR's. There were a whole bunch of 8mR CR's built by McGruer and others, many of which are still out there. And I may very well be wrong on this, but from looking at different square metre classes it appears that there were square metre cruising classes built as well as the more well known racers.
