Does anyone know a good supplier for the vice used for wire eye splices? I "googled" this item and didn't have much luck.

Thanks,
Paul

My son made the patterns and had a foundry cast the bronze bits. The eye-bolts were bought on line, then a couple of days in the workshop to put it together. The middle "jaw" is held captive by filing a groove round the eye bolt end into which the pin that is just visible in the top of the jaw fits.

Another place to ask is Brion Toss's Spartalk forum: http://briontoss.com/spartalk/

What happened to Weatherly's website? It's all blank for me. :(
You guys must be getting excited for a full season.

The smaller # 1200 vice from Elisha Webb is a great vice for up ½”. Served 5/8” wire rope is a little large for the jaws and requires some nippers to keep the eye from popping out. For anything larger than ½” I recommend the #900 vice. We used the #900 to do over 300 wire splices on the MOSHULU and GLENLEE rigging restorations.

here is the larger #900 in action:

Right there is the reason I went to Sta-loks......too many lacerations and I never was able to make a splice that I was proud enough of to let folks see it.
