Thought I'd post some examples of how good looking bolts can be hiding some real corosion problems.
These beauties were (not) holding down deck hardware.

The first photo shows the cause - dissimilar metals next to each other. Some goose appears to have used steel washers on non-ferrous bolts. There was about 1/8" of good metal left in a 1/2" diameter bolt. Not much to hold a 25 ton boat eh?
