A group of men wanted to build a copy of the famous "Black Pearl", not only as it used to look but also with the same materials and in the same place where this famous ship was built 338 years ago! The wood used included the Santa Maria wood for the frame and the Pine for the sheathing. The Black Pearl was constructed according to a primitive drawing by one of the sea robbers, who was sailing this ship. A lot of time was spent drawing and designing the ship, constructing and paying attention to all the details to preserve the original look of the vessel

That ship looks almost nothing like any ship built 338 years ago to any educated eye. It is a dreadful anachronistic pastiche! That thing is a pathetic tourist trap.
Here is a picture of an accurate replica of a 300 year old ship, the Kalmar Nyckel:

I prefer my fake pirate ships to have twin diesels and a plastic cap'n statue. This one also features an shallow draft for taking the kiddies on rides through Sinepuxent Bay.

Long before those pirate movies came out, there was a jet black Freedom 40 named the 'Black Pearl' that used to terrorize Mobile Bay. I tell you what, on a reach those things are damn fast.

Or any hope whatsoever of ever passing any sort of passenger carrying licensing inspection, notwithstanding it's "two public toilets!"
Such a deal! God, Raw Faith II, indeed!!!

Raw Faith II?
Don't tragedies usually come in threes?
I bet you these fellows were cribbing notes, one from the other. "Oh look what they did there, that's clever!"
Just waiting for the next one to surface...

Even the movie company did a better job. Here's the 'real' Black Pearl:

James -- We thank ye kindly for the Kalmar Nyckel Plug. But this 10-year-old ship is a reproduction of a boat from circa 1628, almost 400 years ago. Time does fly.
