It will be a last minute "opportunity" decision for me (as always) unless I get that Footy built. ;>

Yeah.... just waiting for Margo to announce plans for the EBS at lefty's so we don't miss it this year. Then we'll make some travel plans.

Is there definitely a Footy race this year?

Any truth in the rumour that the wedding will be taking place there, with Airlie officiating.

"WBS" For Jaime WBS means something different than it does for the rest of us.....On Airlie WBS stands for "Where's Bacon? SNIFFFFFF!" :D

IIRC Carl asked that someone adopt the administration of any Footy event. I don't recall anyone taking up the challenge, but if I get one done I'm bringing it just for kicks. Steven Bauer had one in his pipeline of projects. I imagine there will be room to maneuver among the boats off the waterfront.

Perhaps cannons on the bow will ward off others who don't see them. (Shades of the Lillian B. Womrath: "Cut away all paper bags!")

I'll volunteer to do the grunt work, but would like to race, so I can't wear the blazer and tie. I'll PM Carl

Yes.

Julia and I have reserved the Morgan Suite and Porch at the Whaler. I think we're hosting an engagement party at some point. If not, lots of opportunities for EBS's.

Well, the way the economy is going, I won't be serving smoked salmon. Canadian bacon on a ritz sounds just fine. afterall, everything tastes good on a ritz.

Well, this turnout looks depressing...Umm, perhaps I'll head elsewhere.
Granted, the few who have responded are great people but it is not often easy to travel anymore. I need a crowd. I cook for a crowd, I by enough umm.. RUM for a crowd...

OK everyone. Just to clarify:

Jamie - you are coming

The EBS at Lefty and Carter's is Friday night (got that Lefty ? ;) - or is that why you were calling last night?)

The WB sponsored tribute dinner is Saturday night, but that leaves opportunities before and after (and possibly during for those that don't go) for Whaler's Porch EBSs. :D

Russ & Julia - I'll leave the Engagement EBS details to your fine discretion.

I just booked a room at the Whaler's Inn for Friday and Saturday. It is the place to be. Right now I'm downstairs across from Russ & Julia - that room was open and I figured I'd take it so some poor non-WBF folks didn't end up in the middle of the party :D

Paul & Katherine, if you want the room, just let me know and I'll take another one. They seem to have good availability right now.

Jamie - I will procure ice and some suitable appetizers if you want to have folks out to Airlie. (That spelling doesn't look right  - sorry if I messed it up :()

Lefty - count on me for Never Frozen St. Augustine Shrimp (well, OK, slightly frozen...) and, as discussed, a tent if needed.

Russ & Julia - count on me for a bottle (or two) of champagne.

NOW! Is this enough for folks to start getting organized ???!!! :D

I nay have to leave a bottle of Goslings for Carl C as he failed to show up on Airlie after I bought it specifcally for him. I'll leave it at the Whaler. Maybe he will show up this year.

I'd like to come and show off my svelte new body (when it gets here). At the moment I'm not convinced we'll make it, but I will grab a room at the Whaler and pretend there's no other possibility. A New England tour will be out of the question this year; probably head to Nashville after the show to see my daughter. So I'm in as a definite maybe. That would include Lindy.

Will be at the WBS with SWMBO (Maryalice) and am looking forward to seeing all the faces again. Arrive Wednesday leave Monday, staying at the El Cheapo Motel in Groton. (Knight's Inn)

Dunno about Lefty's, although I'd love to do that, but perhaps we could have a secondary EBS on Friday over at Abbots (Hopefully sans the bloody fog this year!) for those who can't make the drive to Lefty's and back from Mystic ?

I'd suggest the Abbots thing for Saturday but the formal dinner would conflict. I'M definitely getting more lobster this year!

Mystic is a great place for kids. My girls won't be coming this year, they'll be in Seattle. There are tons of places to stay in the area since it's so close to the casinos.

EMINENTLY suitable for kids! Especially if they have any interest in Maritime History!

Nup. Still rooms in Groton, about a ten minute drive via 95 at the Knight's Inn. It ain't spectacular, but it's clean and cheep, like the budgie.

I think you could hide an RV at Mystic Aquarium without anyone knowing or caring, it is less thana mile from the seaport. There must be some shuttle or hitchin a ride available.

IIRC there is a campground just North of RT. 95 in Mystic that was RV friendly.A google will get their name(acheck and I see Stave found it) , I don't know about shuttles though. Then there is Burlingame State Park in Westerly R.I. and about a 30 minute ride to Mystic ,they take reservations now.

I mentioned to Paul (forgot to tell the rest of you) that unfortunately, we won't be making it this year. I'll miss the cigars on the porch, comparing bellies with Jamie, Carter and Lefty's party, discussing fine points of photography with Emily, eating Margo's shrimp, betting if Joe comes, looking for car keys with a certain jolly Canadian, and most of all, the celebrations of the engagement. That's something I'd really like to have been part of.

So far I'm down 38 pounds, with 62 to go, losing about 6 pounds per month like a clock. I'd have made an exception for lobster if we'd been able to make it, though I guess you'll all be spared the vision of my demolition of my lobster, the uneaten portions of Lindy's lobster and all of the scraps of your lobsters for another year. There's always next year, but we'll miss this one. It sucks, really. :(

Love you, Russ! Spending some time with you isn't out, just delayed.
