For years I have been drawn to the simplicity of Bolger's multichine plywood imitation of the classic and I am wondering if any have been built.

Lovely, isn't she? Not what a lot of folks think of when you say Bolger, but shows that the fellow has a lot of arrows in his quiver. I can see why you'd be enamored.

There was an old thread 'Pretty in Plywood'. Don't know if this boat was ever mentioned in it but it should have been. An other example of a really sweet chined boat.

for the extra foot of waterline, and the double ended hull, I would take

that Atkin is a very cool boat. Thanks for planting that seed in my brain...

The Bolger is a really good looking craft, too. I'm glad somebody finally made one. I bet it's a flawless sailor. I have great faith in his ability to perfect or near-perfect performing boats (having built three without a dud yet)

Check out John Brooks' glued lapstrake 12 1/2, called the Somes Sound 12 1/2 (www.brookesboatsdesigns.com). It has the curves of the original but the ease of lapstrake construction. I think he will be teaching a course at this year's Wooden Boat School on that design.

Thanks, Switters. I was near Ft. Collins on Tuesday, visiting my son in Denver. We went to the new Vestas factory in Windsor, but we could not see much because they have very high security to protect their advanced blade technology. It is still exciting to see some new jobs coming to the US.
