Hi all,
I'm on the hunt for a fishing boat design to be built in ply/composite similar in looks to http://www.quintrex.com.au/BoatRange.aspx?Cat=Top+Enders .
Anyone seen anything closely related on the net?
TIA

Jaques Mertens over at Bateau.com? His emphasis is mainly on fishing vessels. My opinion is that he is worth a look. It's just my opinion though.

Tell us as much as you can about your requirements -- horsepower, hull shape, max crew and cargo, waters you'll be operating in, trailerable or not, inboard or outboard, budget, storage/build space limitations, etc.

Thorne,
Use will be as a serious fishing rig but the ability to carry some camping gear too to get away. 4-5 people max - normally 2, lighter in weight than the one in the link - probably around 300kg max with a lower hp requirement say 30-40hp 4 stroke. Multi use for bays, river and estuaries. Trailerable, plenty of onboard stowage, underfloor fuel tank, raised casting platform forward - basically a timber version similar in concept to what is on the link. I don't want to have to re-invent the wheel if one has already been designed.
Arko,
I'll check out Mertens and see what's there.

Andrew,
I too thought of http://www.bateau.com/
I've had a trip in calm water in a friend's Quintrex Top Ender 470.
I was impressed with the lack of wake etc, and the hull form certainly works well.
It would probably be worth your while having a close look at one before you finalize your choice of hull.

I'm with everyone else. www.bateau.com .Most boats there the interiors can be built to your specs.Just keep in mind weight and strength.I like the large Garvey type hulls,There the GV line on Bateau web. They can be built how ever you like. Here is another design I like. http://www.boatplans.dk/pictures.asp?id=14 With this design, you have a small cabin and one design allows for a small head with a porta potti. It could be built with a slightly larger cabin with heat. You can always built a removable canvas tent cover for camping and stay on the boat.Lots of options, just keep an open mind.
