hello folks, a WB article(130:72) covered alton wallace and his west pointer boats. at the end of the article the author says the plans for this boat can be had through the apprecticeshop, rockland, me. was wondering if they are still available? also, if anyone has built this boat?
thanks, bradlee

The Apprenticeshop's Boat Plans pdf is being updated but you can call/email the shop director to find out what they have. See this link for phone, addresses, etc.: http://www.atlanticchallenge.com/boats/commissions.shtm

I knew Alton Wallace from when I was at the Apprenticeshop and am quite sure any lines they have came from a drawing they made themselves. He had no plans and built the boats from assorted sets of molds he had on hand.

This from 2008 MBBS exhibitors list:

thanks, i'll call the shop tomorrow. in the article they mentioned that while they were taking the lines off a freshly done boat that a. wallace sat in his chair and spoke advise once in a while.....good article.
i have seen nichols website and his boats at the portland show and that is exactly what i would like to build.....hopefully the school still has the 18' plans.....

well, for anyone interested, i phoned eric at the apprenticeshop(atlantic challange) boat shop and he could not have been nicer. unfortunately they are not able to sell the plans at this time as they are reorganizing their library of plans. since i had started to build the ocean pointer he suggested i follow through with it because the boats are almost identical. the ocean pointer having a self-bailing system appealed to me. i got home a broke out the book on the ocean pointer and there it was..... the plans for the alton wallace 18' west pointer with offsets and all! so my two weeks of searching for the plans have come to an end and yes they were right there in my barn.....

Here's a link to Six River Marine's West Pointer page that you might enjoy looking at. They cold-mold their version.
