Thanks Scott!
Writing for the magazine continues to be a lot of fun even though deadlines just add to my work load. One of these days I'd like to do a cover on this place if I could ever figure out how to do a tasteful job of covering wbf in somebody else's magazine.
There appears to be no end to the things you could write about in our world. Each boat is a universe, each craftsman a story. And then there are my whackadoodle friends!

Lew, you've outdone yourself. I really enjoyed your posting about Westward and its adventures here on the forum. But that is your best column yet; maybe because its so personal.
Makes you wonder what would it be like to escape, to take the adventure, and to just cast off and not return for a very very long time.
Well done!

Cris, thanks and here's the deal. The Westward story is just one of those that stands up to scrutiny. I could do it, sail away in her, but my wife's not into it, and that's a fact.
The boat would work quite easily for two couples, you know. If you get a chance to see the film, take it. It gets you thinking. Of course, you'd need some gumption, some luck, and a bit of a bankroll. But I'm convinced that anybody with the will could do it easily, and in great style with this boat. And her fuel burn is negligible given her size. Four people, two couples would be ideal, say three years. More than plenty of boat to handle that! You just all have to agree where to go next.

... or you can wait until the swing vote is asleep.
Good work, Lew. You're a busy guy.

I have three brothers and all of us plan on doing some extensive cruising once we retire. In our respective boats. To the same place. We decided that the way to decide where to go next is to place a map of the world on the wall and throw a dart at it. Then we say; We'll all meet at Lat x Long y on whatever date we think is reasonable to get there. See you there. Then we hang around in the area for a few weeks. Maybe it lands on a small island maybe it lands in the middle of nowhere. All luck of the draw.

Say the word, Lew, and Margaret and I will be there :D;), and we're very easy about the 'where to go next' issue! As a matter of fact we prefer that someone else makes those choices. The surprises that happen along the way are what makes it all so fun.
(Back to reality though...I imagine Lindy is more than a bit concerned about the ticker?)

Ticker? Looking better Dave. So far the BP is down 30 points systolic and 15 diastolic, (128//78 last check, and 126/70 time before that) and weight down 25 lbs, and I expect all my numbers to be better (next blood draw this Wednesday). SO I'm hoping and expecting diet and a sensible physical program will be a big help.
Lindy just isn't in it for a world cruise right now. We need to work on her! :D

World cruise? I could see spending a few years just exploring the Pacific Northwest!
My sailing 'bucket list" still includes
PacNW
The northern shore and island groups of the Great Lakes
More of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador
Ireland, Scotland, Orkneys and Shetlands
Scandinavia
Frisian Islands
Aegean and Croatia
Seychelles
Oz
NZ
Tahiti
Lake Champlain will be checked off early this summer if all goes to plan.
Now where's that winning lottery ticket!

Those years have been spent already! I still enjoy the local waters, don't get me wrong!

Very well done.

Thanks Cris. A bit of tweaking in my lifestyle and attitude makes it easier. And success feeds on itself. But I still have trouble with temptation!

The old ticker has a way of making you sit up and take notice.....I go for the blood work again on Wednesday.....and a B-12 and some other shot to boost my anemia.....sorta glad I went sailing instead of waiting until the last minute....

Yes it does, but it seems to respond to exercise and proper nutrition, at least in my case. Thank goodness.

Keep up the faith and keep sticking around! It peeves me that I didn't go first, which is the point of the article! This dog will have his day, though. I want to see you at the pier in Annapolis (or wherever) when we arrive in town!
Thank you Vince. You are way too kind.
