Hi, everybody.
I'm going to screw&glue a plywood bottom onto the keel and stringers of a mahogany runabout that I'm rebuilding. It would save me some detail work to paint the inside of the plywood before I stick it on, but will the epoxy adhere to the paint? Is one type of paint better than another? Or should I embrace detail work. (I've got an impending deadline.) Thanks,
Bill

glue first....paint later

If you epoxy over paint, the epoxy bond will only be as strong as the paint bond. Also, you will need a way to keep UV from degrading the epoxy, so you will still need to paint over it. You might try masking off the gluing surface prior to painting, but that may be more work than you will save painting after assembly.

Don't plan to apply epoxy to paint.
You'll get a neater job if the plywood is pre-coated with epoxy once or twice before installation.
You might even add some pigment to the top coat of epoxy. It'll need fewer coats of paint to cover. Don't allow even pigmented epoxy to be the final UV-exposed coat. You still need to paint.
