Bill: Here is the new Volvo Penta MD29 I mentioned in a prior post on Craigslist San Diego under "Diesel Engine (morena blvd)", contact Larry at Larry's Marine Service, 619-692-4070. No price mentioned.

I have no connection with the engine or Larry's Marine Service, although I do troll Craigslist looking for MD21 parts.
Best regards, Roger

Bill,
Are you looking for a new source of juice for Ranger? I think that's great. Need local sources?

Thank you very much, Roger, for the lead on the MD 29 - I wonder where that engine has been for the past few decades - supposedly the last of this Volvo series (normally aspirated I6 4 cycle diesel based on the marinized Pueguot truck engine) engines was built in about 1973. This engine series is pretty basic - there is no air filtration in the intake at all. The perforated "tubes" on the underside of the intake manifold are there for sound abatement.
I will call Larry's Marine tomorrow.
Hi, Lew! - mostly trying to get the old beastie a new heat exchanger - I know you went through this drill a couple of years ago with Rita - and ended up with new power. Who knows maybe I will as well.

Yeah, but if I could have done with a new heat exchanger and just that I might still have the old motors. I needed everything, and most especially didn't want to live with the Bendix vacuum shifters anymore, which couldn't be repaired underway or when i was out, and for which parts needed to be (too frequently) manufactured. That was the straw that broke my back. The rest was the predictable course. I probably couldn't do it if I had to do it again, but it sure is nice now.
