My 56'Bertram is moored in a fishing port in Japan and I am presently replacing the deck. Out here some people think these boats are public property and I have seen people fishing from them, jumping around on them, etc. My Japanese fishing friend whose boat is parked in front of mine said he returned one day to find a couple on my deck at the bow, she was in the Taitanic pose (arms like wings outstretched) and he told them to get off the boat. Another time there was a couple making out on the swim platform. Any creative ideas to discourage people from coming aboard without being invited?

A "Beware of Dog" sign might make them think twice or "Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted".

I suppose it could be worse. In Monterey Harbor, the seals like to sunbath on the small sailboats and have almost sunk a few of them. The city has had a terrible time trying to convince the seals they should do their relaxing elsewhere. They get pretty nasty if you disturb them. Anita

Why not just rig up a simple automobile burglar alarm to your hailer.

Try hanging a bunch of fish to dry from the boom. Or maybe try making your own fermented fish paste. That'll take the lust out their young hearts...
Joshua Slocome sprinkled carpet tacks on his deck once. It was very effective, but would be a bother to do every time you left the boat.

Written in English and Japanese....."ATTENTION: Japanese Customs, Use extreme caution..rabid man eating dog aboard Contact owner before boarding" might work.... :D :D

Seems simple to me. Keep a dog on board, trained to guard the boat. Red won't let anybody board my boats without my OK, and she's pretty fierce about it.

A chalk outline of a body on the deck and a "Crime Scene" yellow tape across the bow, combined with a "trespassers will be shot" sign.
