View Full Version : Re-using syringes

I quite often use syringes when working with epoxy - without the needle of course, in 15ml to 25 ml sizes. They are by far the best way to fill holes. I used one today to fill some gaps a previous owner had left in the Yellowtail. The syringe is about the only way I know to get a deep fill, without bubbles, in a narrow gap or small diameter hole.

I used to throw them away after a single use, like my cheap brushes, but now re-use them until I eventually stand on them or some other equally destructive piece of foolery destroys them.

I know this goes against all the health warnings about not re-using your syringes :D - but are there any others out there who re-use?

Sure! A quick rinse with vineager and water. Next day they're ready to goo again:)

I don't even rinse them. A few quick pumps without any epoxy in left them gets rid of most of it when you are using them. The one I just used a couple of minutes ago, I just shoved a piece of Tig welding wire down the nozzle and the plug of epoxy popped right out - it doesn't stick to the syringe body.

I let the epoxy harden in the syringe. The next day I pull the plunger out of the barrel and break the plug off the rubber end. Works great!
