Here is a site that I've had bookmarked for years and was reminded of it by the "Vietnamese boats" thread. When you are done with the "Chineses Junks" part, click on "home" and find out about the originator of the site and his wife, and look at the rest of the site.
Enjoy.

What a stunning website!

Bookmarked immediately!

Now, this one does surprise me:

Taken on the Huangpu, in 1972, during the Cultural Revolution.

A British Second Officer was detained for seven years for plotting his ship's position when under pilotage to that position.

Pretty cool website. I hope he knows about Geocities closing and is planning to move his website to a new location.

Maybe it's already happened. All I can get is a cached copy from Google but it doesn't have the pictures! :( Rick

Here is the home site, try it and see if it works.
If it does, scroll down and click on "#2 - The Ships", then scroll way down and click on "The China Trade", then click on "Chinese Junks".

Know that area quite well....had a boat built there, sails in Rolly Tasker's loft upstairs...ate my evening meal in the floating restaurants (Abalone and oyster sauce).....chased a sweet thing (Pearl Lam Po Chee)...gave away lotsa boxes of Hershey bars a couple evenings a week.

No, just can't get it. Probably got something to do with Google's (grrr) regional structure and the really annoying way in which Google infests the computer. I'll try some other ways but no luck so far. Rick
