Lauren and I had a great sail Memorial day, Wind was 12-15 and we didnt have the jib up but we were still pushing the Alpha, must have ben 6 mph we could feel the bow lift a little, there was a big plume of spray behind the transom, I tried to get on video.

I cant wait to get the boat out in some strong wind, I'll rake the mast back a bit and hopefully will really see what she can stand.

Lordy Dan,
I watched all your videos and I am ready to start an Alpha/Beach build. I've wanted that boat for 30 years.

Very Nice!
The sideways shot is a bit unnatural, but nice

Great videos! The Alpha looks to sail real smooth!

thanks guys
yeah the sidways shot is because the boat is sailed stradeling the thwart, used the same as a sliding seat on a sailing canoe to adjust heel.
We were close hauled on the trip back home as the tide was going out and we ended up rowing the last couple hundred ft to the beach.
The wind was gusty ranging from 8-14
When the gusts hit I could feel the bow rise as we accelerated, the water was seperating at the sides of the transom, the base of the transom was probably 12-14 inches down and there was quite a bit of white water in the area, I think it was trying to get past hull speed.

Wow,
The video creates an illusion of much higher speed, like well into the teens....
Fun time.

Dan, Are you bring this one to mystic? I would love to get a look at her and a short sail if time permits...
