Hello I'm new to this great forum and to the whole idea of hopefully building a wooden ply/epoxy 42' Ed Horstman Trimaran.
I wish to ask the forum, do 'Full Hull Patterns' still require 'lofting' to obtain frames? I have emailed Ed Horstman, but yet to receive a answer( I guess the gentleman is saving his energy for those who firstly purchase plans). So I'm asking your opinion, possibly Paladin if he will?
It's obvious here that I've never built a multi-hull before. Thank you for any help. :) jono

If the designer is advertising "full hull patterns" then he doing so because some people are afraid of the lofting task and this is offered to avoid lofting the boat. The patterns are probably of the stations and other parts. I've never lofted a multi hull so I'll leave the answer to those who have , but welcome to the forum.

First...Ed is way up there in years and may be just slow responding......my initial question is (being familiar with his plans), is your remark " saving his energy for those who firstly purchase plans"......if you are not registered as a purchaser of his plans, where did you get them. Did you obtain them from someone that purchased them and did not build the boat (which is acceptable) or were they obtained by other means...?
If you have yet to purchase plans....the patterns will be of the frames/bulkheads. You then spring several battens around the frames, and then cut the ply in 3-4 inch strips and laminate them on. If you build the frames accurately, the boat will "self fair".....
Do not expect to cut corners on Ed's boats. The designer is an aeronautical engineer and the boat pioneered mainstrength bulkheads to support the ama's, and require that the design be rigidly followed.

Thank you both Ronmill0605 and Paladin for answering my question in what 'full hull patterns' are.
Paladin, It may have badly worded that sentence, I certainly meant no disrespect to Ed Horstman and no I don't have any Horstman plans.
It's great to find his designs, as they tick all the boxes for what I want in a Multi-hull. I do appreciate you helping me here and I'm in envy of your many trimaran builds. In todays world of costly design options (for example pre-fabricated flat Duflex panel systems), it's just great to find a possibly faster and more affordable wooden-ply/epoxy building.
Anyhow got to sell the house first. jono
