View Full Version : William Hand Shipyard ??

Does anyone know if this shipyard placed plaques giving the hull number on boats they built ? Does anyone have a picture ? I think mine may be burried under paint

I thought Hand was a designer not a builder.

he also had a shipyard in Fairhaven until either 1938 or 1939

Hmm. Learn something new every day. I was under the same impression as Steve. I'll have to do some research to learn more about that, --- always loved his designs.

Hand may have been part owner of a Fairhaven shipyard but I don't think it was named after him.

In addition to being a naval architect, who had a large mail order business selling boat plans to amateur and professional builders worldwide, Hand operated the Buzzards Bay Yacht Agency in Fairhaven, Mass. His yard supplied Hand V-Bottom boats complete with engines and equipment. These boats were built to order only. The yard was sold to Palmer Scott in the mid-1930s.
