Anyone going to celebrate the 4th sailing? Post some pics and share your day celebrating. Fair winds of Freedom to all of you on this 4th day of July. I'm glad our forefathers declared independence in the summer.
Cheers,

getting ready for the boat parade on our lake. it's always fun, then campfires, flares around the shore and fireworks.
The 4th is the only day all year I consider our lake 'busy', pretty quiet the rest of the year.

Not out here in anything under 30 feet, it is blowin' a gazillion knots out on the Bay.

Does the 5th count?
Going out to watch the big guys start the Transpac off of Pt Fermin in LA. They start at noon. By the time we get bored and quit following them the wind ought to be up for a nice sail home.....or.............!

We had a nice sail this afternoon. Then watched the fireworks from the dock. Which was nice as Mary was on call and wouldn't have been able to get to the hospital in time if we had been on the mooring. No sailing pics but I have some pics of Talisman on the dock:

Sailed cross the Sound on the 4th, to Branford. Put the hook down in a rockbound, but well protected harbor. Enjoyed a lovely evening aboard, the moon on the water was striking. Sailed back yesterday aganist wind and tide. That made for a long day, but my ketch sails well with the helm tied off. Jane stood lookout while I had a nap. We arrived after dark, but sunset was beautiful. It was our first night together on the boat, it won't be the last.

That moon was lovely. I had the catapillar tent up over the cockpit so I could sleep out and watch moon-rise over the stern.

It was, last night too. There was a great sunset in the west, with a nearly full moon behind thin clouds in the east. It was bright enough to load the dinghy by moonlight.
