Went for a sail with a friend from work, his wife and a friend. They are all semi-pro photographers. I'd seen Rumon's work before and was quite impressed but he sent me a link to photos he took when we were out and I was blown away. I think there is a special touch that really good photographers have. Probably part technical skill but a gift too. There's something about the depth, quality of light, composition and texture that I don't think I'll ever be able to master. They have the ability to look at the same things that I do but somehow their context is subtly different. I'm in awe of that.

Here's a link to the photos....

Thanks, that was a lovely collection of shots. Looks like a fun day. My only complaint was that the images lacked the typical Flickr "All Sizes" button that allows one to zoom/magnify an image. Made me want to launch Right Now... but it's dark, and my sweetie is ready for bed. I'm going sailing Wednesday. I guess the urge will have to hold till then

Wonderful photos Dave!!. Not sure why but I particularly like the third from last with the blue sail bag on the deck.

Nice photos of you and your friends. Do you like those ones?

What's that out-of-focus effect? Bofeh or something? I'm too literal to appreciate that.

Bokeh.

Hard to describe, but easy to appreciate.

Thanks for the kind replies!

David G - Talked to my friend and he chose not to use the "all sizes" button to discourage folks from downloading copyrighted images.

Larks - I really like that one too. Kind of captures the whole shebang.

Bigfella - I'm the old guy with gray hair.

WX - It was gusting to 2 knots. The wind only came up when I'd decided to head back so I left the sails up and sailed down the channel. Annoyed the heck out of the powerboat crowd.
