I'm looking at pipe to hose barb adapters at Hamilton Marine and I see a notation "HECM 24". What does that mean? For that matter what does "HECF" mean? All I can figure out is HECM is male and HECF is female.

Some examples:

I tried Google and search - no luck.

Thanks everyone. Hose Elbow Connector makes perfect sense. Now I'm wondering what the 24 or the 08 just after "HECM" means, if anything?

IPS-iron pipe size, very funny, I don't see pipe jokes often and I spec irrigation pipe every week.

Perhaps the 24 represents the size in sixteenths.

Very funny! :D :D :D

Now for the reason I asked that. I'm looking for an adapter to convert a 1/2 female npt on a Perko raw water strainer to a 1" male hose barb. A 1" hose will connect to the engine. From the strainer outlet to the raw water inlet is about 10" straight. Maybe I'm sweating the details too much but ideally I would want a 1/2" male npt to a 1" male hose barb 90 degree elbow in stainless. I can then run the hose straight to the engine or in a full circle loop for better vibration isolation. If I can't find that then I would have to cobble up a series of fittings to get there.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
