I sailed on Blue Horizon out of Jackson Park during the late '70s . It was a real savior for a transplanted Cape Codder, and helped me make it through Senior year. I'm not sure of the designer, but it was built by Nimphius and was the overall winner of the Chicago-Mackinac race in 1961 or so. I got to meet the builder when he came down to replace the garboard planks. He didn't say much but I remember being impressed with the speed and grace with which he worked.
I had some memorable sails on Lake Michigan, and quite the trip bringing it out of storage and through the Chicago Ship Canal. Quite the education for a high-schooler!
I was wondering if anyone knew whether Blue Horizon was still sailing out of Jackson Park ?
