When we built our Atkin 32' we kept up an ongoing correspondce with Mrs Pat Atkin which also lasted during the years after our boat was launched (we have since sold our yacht). We would write often enough to keep Mr & Mrs Atkin informed of our happenings and sometimes our letters were quite personal as we grew to know each other. We continued to write after we sold the yacht. Sadly we learnt of John's death through the pages of WB magazine and wrote to Pat with our thoughts and feelings of her loss. This has been some time now and we have had no reply. We were simply wondering if anyone knew of Pat's welfare?

I exchanged letters with Mrs. Atkin at the address in CT in July after ordering the plans for an "Eric" 32.

She mentioned WoodenBoat was going to do an article on the Atkins in the near future...I'll be waiting for that one!

John, Our last yacht Pequot, was built to the Atkin "Dragon" design. It was apparently an improvement on the "Eric". More information can of course be obtained by reading "Of Yachts & Men" by William Atkin. Pequot is incidentally on the cover of the new edition. Anyway, if you want some information on our expereinces building (carvel planked), sailing (traditionally: no winches)and living aboard don't hesitate to contact us. The "Dragon" is a very sea kindly boat and a cinch to sail. We enjoyed life aboard considerably!
