i need to find a source for bronze stearing cable. does any one know of one.

Never heard of it either, and wire ropes of various lays and manufacture are a large portion of my living. Please keep us posted when you find 'it'.

Elisha Webb & Son Co. has phosphor bronze cable, both preformed and non-preformed, in diameters from 1/32 to 9/16, and conformations 6x7, 6x19, 6x42, 7x7 and 7x19.
They also have monel cable. You can call or write to them for advice on your particular application. (215) 535-2628. E-mail Eliweb@aol.com. 4238 Adams Ave., Philadelphia PA 19124.

Search for "nonsparking wire rope". You may need a wholesale tax number to buy from them, but they stock almost everything in that enormous catalog, and will ship the same day they get the order. If they won't sell directly to you, you can probably work out something with a friendly boatyard or other business.
