I read this weekend, sitting on the beach in Pensacola and not catching any fish:

"The Ocean Waits" by Webb Chiles. Details part of an (attempted?) circumnavigation in a 18 foot open canoe yawl. Anybody know if he finished it?

As I remember, he made it to the Red Sea, where he was arrested by Saudis(?), his boat confiscated, and accused of being an Israeli spy.

Was released after a short time, but never got his boat back, and never finished the circumnavigation.

Interesting story.

P.S. I guess you know that part of the story better than I remember, as that's in the second book, the one you read, eh?

Anyway, he never finished.

First book, "Open Boat-Across the Pacific" is also worth a look.
