Meerkat sounds good, everyday for the rest of the month we can bump an old zinger of his about Stan, Ish or Donn back to the the top of the page.

I'm feeling a bit slighted. LOL. I've been yakking away here with persistence, and yet have never even been nominated.

Indeed he was. But he wrote well and frequently enough was very funny. David could be insufferably self centered, but he had a very keen and critical mind.
One of the best parts about Meer was how he brought our community together around his distress. He came along in my life at a good time for me, when it was beneficial for me to direct some energy outward, and he helped make a lot of us very close and united. He had to rely on people he barely knew and that was a tragedy. But not in the end. In the end, we all did a fine thing for him, and he knew it. Nobody should ever die alone. You all made sure that didn't happen. When you elected Meer BROM, you put in a vote for the unity and basic decency of the forum and you in essence elected yourselves BROMS. In this case, that's a good thing. I think it's very appropriate in this time of difficulty and confusion to remember how, at the core, we are all alike and all have basic needs. I have to say, if you wish to remember Meer well, then remember that he was destitute and broken, having lost his job because of his illness, which then caused him to lose first his health insurance and then his savings. Had it not been for the "kindness of strangers" he might well have died alone in a shelter. You all did a good thing, and it is fine to remember that. |

One of the things that sucked me in here five years ago was David and Katherine's evening repartees where they would openly banter back and forth with each other in real time. Peter (PMJ) would cut in at times to dance with them.
I didn't know any of them at all and just watched from the sidelines. It could be very entertaining; a club within a club. Meerkat didn't pay attention to you unless you had 5000 posts. Sort of like a hobo crossing the street in front of you, ambling soooo slowly, even after your light turned green. It was his forum, and you know, here he could be an equal, or even a king. |

How sweet. Thank you.
I also vote for Meerkat. MEERKAT is the bilge rat of November. Out of all the nominations it is fitting. He makes history as the first person nominated posthumously.
