Great Harbor Maritime Museum

The Great Harbor Maritime Museum is located in the old Firehouse on Main Street in Northeast Harbor, Maine. It collects, preserves, and celebrates the Maritime Heritage of the greater Mount Desert Island region. Founded in 1982, it became The Great Harbor Collection after a new municipal building was donated to the town. In 1998 it changed its mission. Major exhibits change annually; boat models, outboards, and dinghies also on display. Programs: Children’s visits, island trips, and Late Thursdays.
Seasonal hours: Monday – Saturday: 10 - 5 and Thursday: 10 - 7
