Bill Sterling has been building this Haven steadily for the last 17 years, starting in California and then trailering her half-finished hull across the country to complete her in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Bill followed an unusual construction method for the Haven, AISLING is strip-planked mahogany on white oak frames. He did not sheath the hull in fiberglass. The trim is all Honduras mahogany.
Bill proudly launched AISLING on June 22, 2012 in Jordan Lake, near his home.AISLING means “dream” in Gaelic. Seventeen years is a long time to hold on to a dream, and Bill would like to thank all of the people on the WoodenBoat Forum that helped him over the years to make this dream come true.
These pictures of AISLING were take from the Old Towne Yacht Club on Radio Island, with Beaufort, North Carolina, in the background. Plans are available from The WoodenBoat Store.
