Fast!

Frije Frosk is a Francois Vivier Design, type Meaban.

I built her in the past three years in my garage.

She is strip planked mahogany with Iroko decks, the bulkheads are build according to the egg box principle.

A lot of brightwork, all epoxy and 2K UV transparent finishing.

Gaff rigged with a small gennaker.

Lead ballast and steel centreboard, draft only 1.5 ft. with legs to support her when the tide is low.

Spars made of Douglas fir, hollow.

She has 4 berths, a small 5HP Honda outboard, nicely hidden in the hull.

Small kitchen, with basin and a alcohol stove.

She sails like a charm, and fast (6.5 Kn).

Great fun to build and sail!

Looks so clean. Love that she only draws 1.5 ft. Are there kits available for sale?

Hi Jim,

there are perfect plans for her.
Check vivierboats.com, the website of the designer (france, text in English).
I bought a full set of drawings and everything fitted perfectly, no need to make difficult scale ups as he supplies full scale Mylar sheets for all main parts.
It was my first boat that I built myself, tremendous fun with such accurate plans. You just need a bit of perseverance and time :)

If you want further info or pictures of the building process I can supply these.

Regards,

Wybren
