Pleasant Bay Boat and Spar Company is a custom boat building and wooden spar shop, specializing in traditional catboats and gaff rigged sloops. We are the exclusive builders of the Starling Burgess-designed Baybird sloop, the Classic Cat catboat and Hurricane sloop, with experience in custom boat building and design, restoration and repair, and including a full service yard.

Our spar division, Strong Island Spars, exemplifies the same philosophy as our boat building, restoration and design facilities. Our spars are built using the latest technology combined with the expertise and engineering that result in a handcrafted well-designed wooden spar. Through investigation and experimentation we have incorporated the appropriate use of modern materials to further improve our rigging and construction, providing optimal performance without sacrificing beauty and tradition.
