Salem Maritime Festival
Join us for the 2012 Salem Maritime Festival, August 3-4th, 2012. Free family fun all day! Friday, August 3rd, 6:30 - 9 p.m., sunset concert on historic Derby Wharf; Saturday, August 4th, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., live music; free harbor cruises; Friendship of Salem tours and demonstrations; vessels of all sizes that sail, row, paddle; traditional craft demonstrations; seaside kite-flying; children's face painting; tide pool exhibit; muck walk, "Life at Low Tide"; hayrides around historic Salem; outdoor theatre; country dancers. One popular feature of the Maritime Festival is the free, 90-minute boat rides around Salem harbor. This year, the Schooner Fame of Salem (a full-scale replica of a War of 1812 privateer) and vessel Finback, with HOBBES onboard marine ecology program, will take visitors on cruises, each telling their unique story.
