Hank Stoltz began building this 14' Sassafras Canoe as a member of Bill Thomas' class at WoodenBoat School. He didn't finish it until he got home. Designed by CLC as a tandem boat, this lapstrake stitch-and-glue boat, can also be built as a solo. Hank built it as a solo and uses it on Missouri and Minnesota Lakes. He says it's fast, responsive, and capable. Email Hank at HCS@gocolumbiamo.com.
Richard Knight built this Sassafras 14 canoe from a kit designed by CLC using 4 mm okoume planks, which resulted in a finished weight of just over 42 pounds. He found the lapstitch construction to work well, the hull easily came together straight and true.
