Launching another Wee Lassie canoe

Over the winter of 2025-26, Andrew Green from Pewaukee, Wisconsin built his third Wee Lassie cedar strip-built canoe which is 11” 6” long and 27” beam. It is based original blueprints purchased from Mac MaCathey many years ago. She was launched in May 2026 at Ellison Bay, Wisconsin. Andrew is a self-taught boatbuilder working in his basement.The canoe was built from ¼” thick ¾” wide bead and cove western red cedar strips prepared in Andrew’s workshop, laminated ash stems, then sheathed with 6 oz. glass cloth and epoxy, inside and out and finished with 5 coats of varnish. She paddles smoothly using a two -piece Greenland style paddle built by Andrew from western red cedar and fir.
