Uncle John’s General Store, (www.unclejohns.com), offers easy-to-build Cajun Pirogue kits. Peter Mallory of Amelia Island, Florida, built one of these kits making a 15′6″ model with a 31″ beam.
Wood Duck 12 Hybrid, first time builder. Approximately 3 month build time.
Paul Clausius build DRIFTER using the book, Building the Weekend Skiff, by Richard Butz and John Montaigne. He modified it a bit from the plans in the book. Paul made the fir plywood sides slightly thicher to give the boat additional strength for the rough waters of Geneva Lake, WI.
Using Bill Platt's design, Eric Rasmussen built this 18' pulling boat and launched it in the summer of 2007. Eric writes that used white spruce and white cedar that he logged in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, which he then milled into bead-and-cove strips for the hull.
Paul Cartier bought his 1962 Chris-Craft Sea Skiff for "what the trailer as worth. The boat had mostly good bones but was cosmetically in very rough shape.
This boat was designed and built by Robert Wallace between October 2001 and May 2002. He launched her in May on White Oak Pond in northeastern Pennsylvania. The skiff has a 10' LOA and maximum beam of 39". She is a semi-V hull.
Here’s a couple photos of Daniel Wainright’s home built Sailing Sharpie, launched in June 2013. It is a Spira International 14′ Inagua design. Dan and his son built it over the winter of 2012/2013.
MYSTIC was designed and built to be used in the thin waters of Westport MA. She is hard chined, flat bottomed, and has a full keel with an inboard rudder. She was built with local woods and re-purposed hardware. All of her rigging was hand made.
Launched in July 2002, David Jost built this sprit-rigged micro-cat-ketch from plans by Phil Bolger and Friends. He built FIREFLY using bronze-fastened marine plywood covered with 6 oz fiberglass set in epoxy.
