David Calloway wrote that a couple of years ago, he was infected with the boatbuilding bug. He spent many enjoyable hours looking for boats to build on the internet before he decided on Jim Michalak's QT design.
CHRISTABEL
CHRISTABEL is an Acorn 15, Whitehall style pulling boat, designed by Iain Oughtred. I built her as a sister ship to EMMELINE, my peapod pulling boat. Each boat has unique handling characteristics and each is a joy to row.
Matthew's Kayak
I built this kayak for my grandson, who loves to fish. So I built a fishing kayak, with retractable outriggers. The outriggers are stitch and glue, the kayak is plywood on frame.
Cottage Cruiser
15′6″ Cottage cruiser. Local red cedar, cherry and white oak. Hand woven cane seats.
IRONDEQUOIT II
IRONDEQUOIT II was launched again last summer after an extensive paint job at Ventis in Enkhuizen (the Netherlands). Her hull, decks and masts were painted and all her mahogany was varnished again.
Wee Lassie
Andrew Green recently took to the water in Wisconsin in his Wee Lassie.
ADA BELLE
Named after builder Bill Terry's wife, ADA BELLE is a Ken Swan Little Gem rowing skiff. The frame is mahogany with plywood bottom and sides. Built for use on Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, Bill reports that his grandsons love the boat and that she is easily rowed and handles well.
Not_Yet_A_Name
An Auklet, drawn by Iain Oughtred, built during past winter in the evenings, while hearing good music, finding a center between boat design, wood, music, my hands, tools and myself. It’s supposed to be a tender for my S/Y Rondine, driven by oars and an electric outboards.
STRIP-BUILT CANOE
After 19 years of paddling on 20 lakes and rivers from Lake Michigan to Florida, including many rocky rapids on Ohio rivers, Glen Rahtz saw that his canoe was ready for some attention. He built the red cedar and redwood hull from plans in Canoe magazine.
