COSINE WHERRY
Built from 1/4" strips of red and yellow cedar, David Samuelsson's Cosine Wherry looks quite pretty on a beach in British Columbia. David referred to the book "Rip, Strip, and Row" by J. D. Brown in his construction of this boat.
This section of our web site, an extension of the Launchings department of WoodenBoat magazine, is dedicated to sharing news of recently launched wooden boats built or restored by our readers. If you’ve launched a boat within the past year, please email us at launchings@woodenboat.com, or post your news here. (All posts are subject to approval and editing before being made live.)
To refine your search, add quote marks. If you search Wood Duck, you will get all the listings which include Wood and Duck. To refine, search “Wood Duck” and you’ll see just Wood Duck results.

I recently finished restoring a 1960’s Comet sailboat. She needed a new deck and a good paint scraping. Many thanks to WoodenBoat School for instilling the confidence to take on such a project.
The Comet is a hard-chine boat with a low freeboard and centerboard. See WB 31.
I’ve built 30+ boats as a hobby so I know enough to be dangerous. A few years ago someone decided I needed yet “another” project so they donated a 19402 era Chris Craft (I think) mahogany planked hull.
The Shimaihagi is a traditional fishing boat used for inshore fishing in the Tohoku region of northern Japan. These boats are built without any plans, all of the dimensions are memorized by the builders.
Sundowner had her humble beginnings at the WoodenBoat School’s 2011 Glued Lapstrake class taught by Geoff Kerr. I was fortunate enough to take her home and finish the work we had started. A local mill supplied the cherry, walnut, and pine which I used to finish the hull.
Pease Boat Works in Chatham, Massachusetts, recently designed and launched this 17′6″ × 5′7″ center-console Mill Pond skiff. The hull is built from marine plywood, fir, and angelique, covered with a layer of fiberglass and epoxy.
I built this boat in 1985 for my mother, and this past year did extensive rebuilding of bottom, transom, and converted it to a sprit rigged sailing skiff with a daggerboard. It sails well!

Would make a great lake boat or for your children, low draft.
Beautiful 15' Crab Skiff Sailboat. Built at the St. Augustine Lighthouse. $5,000.
Built 2019-2021, 1,300 hours. Sailed just seven times.
