TREEBEARD is a custom designed and built 20′ gaff rigged sail boat. I designed at the Arques School of Traditional Boat building, and built it in my garage over a period of 6 years. The frames are bent white oak, and the planks and decking are douglas fir.
This 20′ Ashitenma boat was built from the lines of a 1950s net-fishing boat from the Inland Sea region of Japan. Douglas Brooks and his apprentice Takumi Suzuki, with assistance from Koji Matano, built her from cedar and cypress in Takamatsu, Japan.
Jim McQuaide and Eric Schade spent August of 2008 building canoes at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, Maine. Eric built the Schoodic 14 design, while Jim built a Schoodic 17.
Historic Spanish Point is an archaeological site and museum on 30 acres of water front on Little Sarasota Bay in Osprey, Florida. HSP runs a maritime boat building and repair program on the original site of Frank Guptill’s 1890s boat yard.
Found this on Vintage Boats and set about building it light and cheap. Total build boat about $300 nz ply and glass cloth with polyester. Ply was not treated and with a heavy scoring got a good bond.Could not believe how well it goes with me at 84 kg with a 5 hp OB.
Donald Eno launched this Penobscot 14 in May 2001 in Lake George, NY. FRENCH LOTION is an Arch Doak design, 14' x 4'6". It took two years to build, and Donald plans to sail her on Lake Erie and inland lakes in New York State.
On 8/13/2016, Suzanne Nye launched her Bjorn Thomasson Design Frej kayak in Fleming Island, Florida. Her husband Mark, built the kayak using western red/Alaskan yellow cedar strips for the hull/deck and sapelle plywood for the cockpit coaming and bulkheads.
Built 2019-2021, 1,300 hours. Sailed just seven times.
