Built by the legendary Maine boat builder Walt Simmons in Lincolnville, Maine, this beautiful and rare Matinicus Island Double Ender built out of cedar is now for sale. These where once used by light house tenders, lobsterman, and the coast guard. This is a perfect day boat for sailing the coast of Maine, or rowing on a calm early morning or sunset cruise. While I’m not certain on her age, She is great shape and very well maintained in dry storage her whole life. She just came back from the builder getting a “tune-up”, and a brand new rear bench style seat. Zero rot or soft spots, and planks where just tightened up and resealed by Walter in July. She comes with trailer, two sets of rowing oars, and sprit sail rig with an extra sail. She also has a transom that could mount a small motor for those who wish. She sells for $20,000 new, and I am asking $8,000. She’s a great boat, and only selling because I didn’t have the time to sail as much as she deserves.
