2006 Brush Creek Yachts, 14 foot Melonseed, Gaff rigged

Melonseed Skiff by Brush Creek Yachts out of VA, built to the specifications of the Smithsonian/Chapelle offsets, in 2006. The boat is in great condition. The boat is 13′ 6″, and is constructed of Atlantic white cedar planking over white oak steam bent frames, cypress keel and deck beams. The entire hull is encapsulated with epoxy in and out, and the interior is finished with natural varnish. The hull is painted using Awlgrip paint system. Beautiful decks are cedar with fiberglass coating and varnish, topped with an oiled finish. Coamings, rubrails, and transom are mahogany. The white Dacron sail is still crisp and in great condition with reef points. The boat is gaff rigged with spruce mast and spars in very good condition. Custom fit trailer is in great shape with very low miles. There are a couple very small spots on the hull where the dark blue paint has dinged off, but it is very superficial, and only on the starboard side. An Ohio bill of sale and registration for both boat and trailer come with it, and they are current. Along with a good pair of Shaw and Tenney oars in very good condition. These Melonseeds normally come with a Lug rig...but this one was a special order and is Gaff rigged, which to my mind is much superior to a lug rig. Boat sails wonderfully and like all Melonseeds has a great reputation as being sea worthy, and a fast and stable sailer. Dagger board, tiller and all spars in great shape. A very easy boat to rig up and launch. Takes 10 minutes to step the mast and rigging. Boat weighs around approximately 225-240 pounds...Boat is ready to sail. $5,500.
