64' 1931 Stephens Brothers Yacht with quite a story!

Description:

Imagine you are a Rum Runner in California and you need to get your booty from Sacramento to San Francisco... in the most clandestine of ways! You buy a motor yacht of course! Then you cruise at night through the Sacramento Delta, out to the open sea and into San Francisco Harbor to deliver your goods — That is the beginning of FOLLY II’s history! Johnny Marino was a fabled mobster with a good rum business that afforded this luxury yacht with no expense spared. She was the top of the line in her day! Folly II is a 64′ Stephens Brothers Express Cruiser motor yacht originally powered with twin gas Hall Scott Invader engines until she was acquired by Clessie Cummins and his wife. Does the name sound familiar? It should! Clessie Cummins was the founder and CEO of Cummin’s Diesel Engines. Following his acquisition of Folly II, he repowered her with Cummins NH-220’s — the engines that are still humming away in her today with over 7,000 hours on them, they start up like a champ and have a nostalgic sound with her nematic shifters. Her final owner was a hero. Mr. Sam Garrett was a World War I bomber pilot. Upon his return to the States, he became an inventor of a product that was inspired by a brush he used to clean the lens on his camera. Mr. Garrett invented the make-up brush that women still use today to apply blush and other powdered make up products! This launched him into a whole new career in the fashion industry, mingling with the Hollywood crowd. His many accomplishments included working with the Revlon, Max Factor and celebrities such as Zsa Zsa Gabor, Julia Childs and even Elizabeth Taylor. FOLLY II is featured in the Haggin Museum’s book on Stephen’s Brothers Yachts. The Haggin Museum is located in Stockton, CA where the builder was located through 1987. Stephens Brothers Yachts was a premier builder of high-end wooden luxury yachts, known for fast hulls. They went on to supply the US Government with ships used in World War II and beyond. This vessel is in top condition, meticulously maintained by the Garrett family and has undergone a year’s worth of external updating with a new coat of seven layers of premium varnish, bottom and topside paint and more. She comes with full historical documentation and photos. Add your name to the list of legendary owners - your story is just as powerful no matter what your line of work or play is! FOLLY II is presently in her slip in Monterey, CA. See full specs on her Yachtworld listing. Owner will entertain all offers.
