Classic 38' Cuttyhunk for Sale


‘Dondang Sayang’ was built in 1982 in Terengganu, Malaysia to Alan Pape’s Cuttyhunk design. She is a traditionally built cutter-rigged yacht by Abdullah Bin Muda. Hull is 30mm carvel planking using Chengal hard wood. She has a Mercedes OM 314 truck engine, producing 70 hp, and speed of 6-7 knots under power. Her sails were made by Lee Sails of Hong Kong, and in excellent condition. Additional sails made by Rolly Tasker in Phuket, Thailand. On deck, length is 38 ft, with a 6 ft bowsprit. Her beam is 11 ft and draft 7 ft. Her gross tonnage is 12.5 tonnes. The teak deck was laid in 2010, and she is fitted out with teakwood cabinets inside. She has 4 berths, two in the fore-cabin, and two in the saloon. There is a small washroom, with manual WC and hand basin. The galley has a 2-burner gas stove, supplied from a bottle in the lazarette. A built-in ice-chest keeps food chilled using block ice. She has 3 storage tanks holding 180 liters Diesel fuel, and 240 liters of fresh water. There are 3 banks of 12-volt batteries, 2 for the engine, 2 for lighting, instruments etc., and 1 for the anchor windlass. They are charged using the alternator, 240 volt shore power, or solar panels. There are 2 bilge pumps, one Whale ‘gusher’ hand pump, and one automatic electric pump. Steering is by rudder, and hand-held tiller, There is no self-steering at the moment. There are 2 anchors, a 35 lb CQR and a 40 lb Bruce, with 2 x 50m lengths of chain, plus 50m nylon rode. The instruments have Raymarine ST60 displays, plus a colour multi-display Chartplotter. VHF is Icom IC M45A, and radar by Furuno. There is a gas-detection system, several fire extinguishers, and plenty of life jackets and other safety devices.
