“VAL” has been in storage for 15+ years in a purposely built boathouse in Cape Breton, Canada. Aside from her bright work, she is in very sound condition and has all hardware, rigging, and sails and then some to reassemble. Everything in there and was stored properly with the boat. Her mast is Sitka pine and in excellent condition. Her hull does need some attention but again in very good shape considering her age. She is double plank mahogany over oak frames. The owner is putting together a webpage with all her history and detailed info you sail enthusiast would understand. There is no question “VAL” can be at the same level of other “R” class sailboats being recently offered for sale. Even though considerable work is required this not a “complete rebuild” and the majority of work can be performed by normally skilled yachtsman/workers. If your a relatively normal person who has dreamed of owning a piece of history, this may be a great opportunity. There is a huge history with “VAL” and she is well known in the original “R” class world of which there are less than 20 originals left. The asking price is USD $60,000...firm.
