DOUBLE WHISK
Erick and Ann Singleman took the plans for Iain Oughtred’s Wee Rob Double-Paddle Canoe and modified them so the two of them could paddle it together. They added a second seatback, raised the coaming, and made the placement of the seats adjustable for 1 or 2 paddlers.
Tandem Canoe
The stringers, floorboards and wales are Douglas Fir. Stems and “decks” are 12 mm Meranti ply and ribs are Arroyo Willow cut a short distance from the shop. Skin is 8 oz. polyester from George Dyson and it's finished with four coats (1st thinned 7x1) of clear water-based varnish.
Paddle Making
Come and create a traditionally-shaped cherry paddle using only hand tools. You can make a canoe or native double blade (modified Greenland) paddle. After some history and an explanation of the shapes, you will pick your blank and get started! The process will be demonstrated from beginning to end to ensure that you come away with a perfect paddle. This one-day class will give you a sense of accomplishment as you complete a paddle that will accompany you on the water. Blanks are provided as part of your materials fee.
This one-day class runs from 9 AM to 5 PM.
GRACE
At just 39 pounds, this canoe is designed for easy portages in Derek Coleman's home waters of Killarney Park, Ontario. Derek designed an asymmetric hull with an adjustable, removable seat and nicely decorated bow stern decks.
