FREEDOM 17 CANOE
Builder Byron Marks writes that this canoe, launched Sept 3, 2002, roughly follows the lines of the Freedom 17 designed by Steve Killing (found in "Canoecraft" by Ted Moores). For the hull, he used white cedar with walnut accents.

As a student of Ted Moores' WoodenBoat School class, David Racicot worked on this strip-built Freedom 17 canoe, designed by Steve Killing. David took it home and launched it in September 2002 at Suffolk, VA.
Stag One
Red cedar strip-built Freedom 17 canoe designed by Steve Killing. Followed Ted Moores’ book “Canoecraft” religiously as this is my first boat. Ash inwales and outwales, cherry yoke and thwarts, Port Orford Cedar with walnut accented decks. Paddles carved from maple.
15 foot lapstrake Canoe
Based on the lines from the freedom 15 canoe design from bear mountain boats. Glued lapstrake marine plywood, fiberglassed inside and out, Epifanes polyurethane finish. Ash trim. Custom paddles and bowline. Very stable and a real head turner at the launch.
