The annual Washington’s Birthday Regatta originated at Commodore Ralph Munroe's boathouse in 1887. Commodore Munroe was a yacht designer, Coconut Grove pioneer, and founder of Biscayne Bay Yacht Club. This fun race is open to vessels of traditional design regardless of construction: Mud hens, sea pearls, bullseyes, sharpies, Bahama dinghies, cat boats, gaff-rigs, etc. Fiberglass boats are permitted.
