Dave Gentry Kayak build at the Florida Maritime Museum

-

The Florida Maritime Museum is honored to be hosting renowned boat building expert Dave Gentry for a two-weekend kayak building workshop. Taking place March 16th and 17th and March 23rd and 24th (9am-4pm each day), this class is a rare opportunity to build a kayak with the man who designed it. Gentry is not only a designer, he is an instructor at the WoodenBoat School and has taught workshops on skin-on-frame boatbuilding across the country. You, too, can share in this opportunity. The focus of the March workshop is a 12-foot, skin-on-frame kayak called the Chukanut- 12. It weights a mere 30 pounds and will carry a payload up to 225 pounds. For more information on Dave Gentry and his innovative designs see www.gentrycustomboats.com.

The class is open to anyone, of any age, with a passion for boats and building. Boat builders can bring a team of up to five people, but only a limited number of slots are available. The cost is $1100 per boat, and includes all materials. Participants will leave with a finished boat.
