PAMELA

The Center for Wooden Boats recently launched the newly restored Blanchard Jr Knockabout (BJK) Pamela in Seattle, WA. This project focused on providing young people the opportunity to learn traditional boatbuilding skills over the span of the last two years. CWB collaborated with local high schools and youth oriented maritime organizations with support from multiple funders including the RPM Foundation and The Port of Seattle to restore the vessel. Work included new planking, framing, deck, and interior fit out. Pamela was built by the Blanchard boatyard on Lake Union in 1936 where she still sails every day teaching new people as part of CWB’s long-running SailNOW! Program.
