Cedar Skiff
Twelve years ago, Bill Burns and his sons rescued an old cedar skiff that was being used as a lawn ornament in Oriental, North Carolina. The started restoring the 16′ skiff by replacing some rotted areas, including most of the transom.
Canoe and Catspaw
Jim Brossett has been busy. He launched two boats that he built in June 2011. He built this 14′ strip canoe from cypress with cherry accents.
MOLLY
David Blake built MOLLY, a 16′ x 6′ Stevenson Weekender sloop from okoume plywood and mahogany, then covered the hull with fiberglass and epoxy. He made the mast from Sitka spruce and the boom and gaff from Douglas-fir.
MsBHaven
Don Bishop of Sanibel Island, Florida, designed and built this trailerable 22′-6″ Gaff cutter to explore America’s coasts and to cruise the Bahamas. The composite 800 lb. lead/glass swing keel provides 18″ and 5′-5″ draft. The hull is cedar strip and glass.
WHISP SKIFF
David Schmidt and Michael Crisell built this 15'7" sharpie skiff, designed by Steve Redmond, under the watchful eye of James Younes in his boat shop in Suquamish, WA. They used okoume plywood, mahogany, and Western red cedar.
14 foot Quahog skiff
Joe Walsh of RI has been working on a writen history of a passing tridition. The Quahog skiff was a staple of the waterfront in Rhode Island for many years. Of late they are hard to find.
Jericho Bay Lobster Skiff
This 15,5 foot (4,75m) vintage looking Jericho Bay Lobster Skiff, designed by Joel White is based on typical American lobster boat lines. She has flat planing sections, slightly concave bottom and tumblehome worked into the hull aft.
COLOMBE
I started building my Melonseed Skiff in 2017 and finished it in 2021. Because I do not have a garage or large shed, I did work outdoors from May to November (living in Sherbrooke, Québec).
MARY and SUSAN
Both are loosely based off of Smith Island outboard skiffs. MARY has a traditional style transom, and SUSAN has a tumblehome style transom. Traditional style construction, Cross planked bottom. Yellow Pine.
