Brittany-Jade
We launched our Penobscot 14 after Just under two years build time. All plywood is Hoop Pine. The stem, stringers, transom, and thwarts are all Tasmanian Blackwood, with the rest a mix of other Australian hardwoods.
Launched in Canberra and it rows like a dream.
Houtje
In 2014 and 2015 Nanette Jockin and Jan Sepp built “Houtje”, a Wabnaki canoe in their summer cottage in Loosdrecht, the Netherlands.
YACHTTEENY
This 7'10" pram/kayak was built from plans in Gavin Atkin's Ultrasimple Boatbuilding, in spring of 2011 by Stephen Nickles, and launched this past June, my brave wife Christine is at the helm.
ABOUT TIME
Bob Chaput and Dick Dowdell built this Peeler Skiff from a John Harris-designed Chesapeake Light Craft kit. She will carry children and grand children fishing and digging clams in the salt waters of Southern New England.
Tandem Canoe
The stringers, floorboards and wales are Douglas Fir. Stems and “decks” are 12 mm Meranti ply and ribs are Arroyo Willow cut a short distance from the shop. Skin is 8 oz. polyester from George Dyson and it's finished with four coats (1st thinned 7x1) of clear water-based varnish.
Shiloh
Doug Crane spent 10 years building NOKIDO, a Lyle Hess 29.9 cutter, only to be diagnosed with terminal cancer late in the process. Friends and family helped him finish the boat just in time to spend his last summer aboard.
Hiawatha Canoe
Jerry Stein of Neenah, Wisconsin, built this 15′ canoe, a Hiawatha design by Bear Mountain Boats, and shown in Canoecraft, by Ted Moores. He built the hull from western red cedar and ash, then sheathed it with fiberglass cloth, inside and out.
Cirrus Kayak
Jonathan Alvarez, a Rhode Island resident, built this 17′5″ Cirrus kayak over four-and-a-half years and launched her last Labor Day.
WOOD DUCK
After building several smaller boats in his living room, Dan Nielsen moved to a tent boatshed to build WOOD DUCK, a garvey-like design of Dan's own. Frames are Alaskan yellow cedar and Honduran mahogany sheathed in jequibita plywood.
