When Covid hit I realized I would have time to build a boat. So, I did, a Glen-L zip caught my eye and I got started. I wanted the look of the boat, but I also wanted to go fast so I over built and put on a bigger than suggested motor.
Using Phil Bolger's "Sweet Pea" design for inspiration, Allen Head designed this boat for his 9-year-old daughter, Casey. With an overall length of 9', CASEY'S BOAT is constructed from 6mm Meranti plywood. Casey did much of the painting.
Rene Burdahl of Innvik, Norway has been busy building boats. Among his recent boats are a 16' canoe. The plans called for cedar strip planking, but Rene used spruce and then glassed the hull inside and out. The seats are oak and gunwales are elm. The yoke and breasthook is cherry.

Adapted from Bear Mountain plans for the Ranger canoe, this skin on frame canoe was launched by the owner Hank Li in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Construction is yellow cedar stringers on ash frames and with a mix of ash and yellow cedar trim.
