Rangeley Lake Boat
This 15' Rangeley Lake boat was designed at the Newfound Woodworks. It is based on offsets from the John Gardner book, Building Classic Small Craft. . The original Rangeley boats were cedar lapstrake construction with ribs on the inside. Our version is cedar strip-built with epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth providing strength and protection.
The 15' Rangeley pictured above was built at the Newfound Woodworks' shop in 2006. It is similar to our current kit configuration, with mahogany gunwales, red cedar upper section (not always this dark), 1/2" white stripe, northern white cedar lower section, sappele deck with spruce coaming, and Spanish cedar seats, oar blocks, and transom.
The Rangeley Lake boats are very stable. If you want to see a demonstration of the ease of rowing and fly fishing, call and order our ten minute Rangeley DVD.
